Poem For Cats

And God asked the feline spirit
Are you ready to come home?
Oh, yes, quite so, replied the precious soul
And, as a cat, you know I am most able
To decide anything for myself.

Are you coming then? asked God.
Soon, replied the whiskered angel
But I must come slowly
For my human friends are troubled
For you see, they need me, quite certainly.

But don't they understand? asked God
That you'll never leave them?
That your souls are intertwined. For all eternity?
That nothing is created or destroyed?
It just is....forever and ever and ever.

Eventually they will understand,
Replied the glorious cat
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am....forever and ever and ever.

This page is dedicated to our beautiful little girl Cory, who left us on April 3, 2002.  Miss Cory, as she was known, was the purrfect little lady.  Always purrfectly groomed and well behaved.  She came to live with us in October of 1999 from her home in West Boylston, MA where she lived with her Massachusetts Mom Diana Engelbart.  Her sister Sniffie was already living with us, and Cory had emailed us to ask if she could join Sniffie.  From the beginning you KNEW Cory was a very special little lady.  She made her place in the household and immediately fell in LOVE with my big tabby boy Tamir.  Cory followed him all over and looked at him adoringly with those big blue eyes.

"Princess" Cory and her loyal servant Tamir.

Purrfect sisters that they were, Cory and Sniffie had a great relationship.  They could sit and groom each other for the longest time, and then turn around and hiss and chase each other!  Cory was always the lady, Sniffie was always the Tom Boy.

Cory was a Grand Premier in CFA and enjoyed the "show biz" life.  She made many friends in the Birman world and will be sadly missed by them.  Many thanks to Karen Helmold and Donna Trusler  and all of  "Team Birman" for all their help in showing Cory.

'Dearest Cory, We miss you so very much.  You were such a precious little girl and you were taken away from us far too soon.  I can still picture you jumping up on the bed in the morning for "Pets".  We'll always love you.

Cory touched both of our hearts.  Even though she would never let us know it outwardly, we touched hers; also!'  By: Bill & Sharon

The Rainbow Bridge

- - Author Unknown

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the "Rainbow Bridge" because of it's many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass.

When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. The old and frail animals are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other.

There is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who loved them on Earth. So each day they run and play until the day comes when all those pets you have loved suddenly stop playing and look into the distance. Their bright eyes are intent, their eager bodies quiver. Suddenly they begin to run from the group, flying over the green grass, their legs carrying them faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friends meet, you take them in your arms and embrace in a joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face, your hands again caress the beloved heads and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pets, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together. Never again to be separated.
